This provides the Client with an indication of Mainstream’s ability to perform work that is aligned with good practice and the Client’s own aspirations in these two important areas. Prequal Certification – Engineering (Professional Services Category 3) – was extended for Mainstream Engineering Ltd for a further 2 years in Jan 2019. Business Development and Special Projects
Darrin is both an accomplished, qualified, professional mechanical engineer, and a time served boilermaker/welder tradesman. He has 30 years combined fabrication, engineering and design experience, making him a versatile and analytically flexible member of the MEL team. He has a unique talent for visualising problems and working with a team to develop solution options.
With a wide range of both practical construction and maintenance experience combined with analytical engineering knowledge, Darrin adds value to any project. Whether climbing into dirty confined spaces to inspect plant or presenting the conclusions of technical analysis to clients, Darrin is motivated and driven to deliver successful results and exceed expectations.
Darrin is the founding member of the Mainstream Engineering team and has steadily attracted a highly skilled and capable team of professional engineers, managers, supervisors, planners and administrative personnel. As directors of MEL, he and Dianne recognise and acknowledge the need and benefits of a diverse and experienced leadership team and encourage the autonomy to successfully utilise their capabilities resulting in exceptional overall service.
Business Services Manager
Dianne leads the MEL business services team who deliver both internal and external financial and administrative support. Dianne has over 30 years of accounting and business systems development experience in many industries; banking, logistics, manufacturing, public service and private consulting.
Dianne has a passion for setting up business systems. Integrating seamlessly into any team, she identifies where gaps may exist and implements solutions to avoid disruption. Highly skilled with spreadsheets and various financial software applications, she is a management accountant that has a particular eye and skill for extracting, analysing and presenting financial information for project and business lead teams.
Dianne has strong family and friendship values, bringing a more personal dynamic into the MEL lead team. With a strong commitment to work-life balance, she demonstrates how it is possible to achieve professional career success while managing to raise a family and enjoy her passion for scuba diving, horse-riding, motorcycling and travel.
Warrick leads the MEL management team with over 35 years engineering and management experience in heavy production industries including pulp & paper, power, thermal and hydro. He has significant capital project management experience and has managed larger size teams of technical people in maintenance and capital engineering groups. Warrick is well experienced with progressing business cases, capital project approvals, corporate communications and reporting to boards of directors.
Warrick is responsible for all MEL operations, ensuring consistency of service, quality, safety and value, along with the well-being of the MEL staff.
Construction and Projects Manager
Lynn heads the MEL projects and construction group and has accumulated an excess of 35 years’ experience in project management for construction, commissioning, start-up and maintenance of large industrial, complex, multi-facility projects. He has acted in various capacities both on and offshore on program-wide process-driven projects including; power generation, mining, waste water, materials handling, civil engineering, buildings and services, food and beverage, pulp and paper, oil and gas, timber, manufacturing and heavy process industries. He is a specialist manager and has led large teams on heavy industrial, fast-track projects and shutdowns focused on delivering the best performance outcomes with absolute focus and priority on health and safety, the environment and quality.
Lynn leads our project engineers, planners and supervisors and is responsible for the delivery and success of the construction and installation phase of your project.
Engineering and Design Manager
Neale oversees the MEL engineering and design group and with his 35+ years engineering design and leadership experience is well suited to guide the diverse capability of the MEL engineering team.
Neale has wide industrial experience, commencing with alumina refining in Australia carrying out project and maintenance engineering roles. Then his career led him to the sugar industry, culminating in the role of engineering manager for BSL group mills.
Relocating to NZ in 2010, he has gained extensive experience in the pulp and paper industry. Initially as engineering manager for two large kraft pulp and paper mills, Neale led a large team overseeing the capital and major maintenance programmes and assisted with the strategic development of both facilities.
Neale joined Mainstream Engineering in June 2018 as engineering team manager bringing his diverse industry experience along with systematic and analytically decisive leadership.
South Island Area Manager
Colin heads up the MEL South Island team of 3 based in Nelson and Christchurch. Colin is a qualified mechanical engineer with 30 years engineering design and project management experience predominantly in the mining and materials handling sectors.
As a relatively new member of the MEL team, heading up the office in a new location Colin has excellent technical knowledge, enthusiasm and drive for success that dovetails well into the manner in which MEL supports our clients. Colin’s customer-focused passion assures regular committed service to cement MEL as a long term industrial engineering resource, delivering the wider MEL capabilities into the greater South Island.
Business Development Manager
Greg oversees business development, customer relationship management and sales & marketing for MEL. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering and has an extensive background in process engineering, technical, production and sales.His experience is predominantly in Pulp and Paper working in New Zealand, Australia, China, Canada and USA.
Greg has spent the much of his career in customer focused roles and understands their needs. He enjoys the process of working with customers to help them succeed. Greg’s role is to expand MEL’s customer focus.
